What did Pelosi mean: “Are you serious?”

Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House of Representatives, third in line to become President, top dog of 435 elected representatives, leader and spokesperson for the democrat party, was asked where in the constitution is congress authorized to order normal everyday Americans to buy health insurance?   Her answer to the reporter was “Are you serious,” turned away and went on to the next reporter for a different question.  Link.

What did she mean when she responded to the reporters question by emphatically stating:  “Are you serious?”

Did she think the reporter was joking?   Did she think the question was irrelevant?  Did she mean that who are you to ask me where in the constitution is the authorization for all this spending, when everyone knows that the constitution is irrelevant to these changes we’re going to make?  Did she think that the reporter should know the answer to the question, so, why ask her?   Was it a dumb question?   Does she know the answer?   Or, does she feel that she is above such trivial stuff like constitutional law?   Or, does she feel that being the speaker of the house, she does not need to answer tough technical, legal, and to her, irrelevant questions.   Who knows what’s inside that hairdo.

She IS the Speaker of the House.   Special.   Above all you people.  Leader.   Above stupid reporters.   Extra-special.    Comes from California.  Has her own office.   Her own staff.   Her own hairdresser.   Her own very special seat in the House, raised up above the rest of them.   She looks down upon them all.

And, to scare the pants off the silent majority, she is third in line to be president?

Wow,  we really need to beef up the protection for Obama and Biden.

Free Choice, No Choice or multiple choices.

Congress is pushing to pass the “Employee Free Choice Act” as desired and supported by the AFL-CIO, which indicates the bill: would enable working people to bargain for better benefits, wages and working conditions by restoring workers’ freedom to choose for themselves whether to join a union.”

You won’t find many Americans who are against free choices, right?  We enjoy our right to choose.  We use that right everyday in the myriad decisions we make from what to have for breakfast, what to wear and what stores to buy those clothes from, what kind of vehicle we want to drive, or not, the color, the extras, the music or talk we listen to while driving to work, and on and on the choices go all day long, week after week, year after year.  Yea, we want our choices.  The title of the bill gives us the impression that this is all about expanding employee free choice.  Politicians are very good at mislabeling.

But then there are the details.  Read the details. You wouldn’t purchase a home without looking at the details would you?   A car?   A woman reads the care instructions on the label of every garment she purchases to see what it’s made of and whether it can be washed or needs to be dry cleaned etc.   Many men don’t read the instructions while trying to put the toys together the night before Christmas, and end up finally getting out the instructions at midnight.

The dirty details.

The Free Choice Act empowers the organizers for a prospective union to close the private ballot making each vote publically known as each employee was asked to vote for or against assembling a new union.   There you are at the table, your co-workers around you, the union organizers at the table and you’ve got to check yes or no while they all witness your choice.

Read: HR POLICY ASSOCIATION  Mistitled “Employee Free Choice Act” Would Strip Workers of Secret Ballot in Union Representation Decisions.

Politicians make up crazy ideas all the time with their utopian dreams as a guide to hamstring all the people.  So, here’s a crazy idea.

We like our free choices, so make more choices available to employees.

Open up every company that is union organized for competing unions to freely organize alongside the existing union, and allow workers to choose which union to represent them, or to freely choose to do their own bargaining with the employer.   Multitudes of unions within a giant company like GM would be good for employee choices, although it’d be a nightmare for the company management keeping tabs on each.   Eh, it’s not a cake walk for management now.

It would provide employee free choice, and that is the supposed purpose of this bill.

Stopping the assault against freedom. Just One way to do it.

There is just one way to stop the advance of Obama Care for the economy, the Obama Care for the auto industry and their unions, The Obama Care for the health industry, and the Obama Care for illegal immigration and minority rights including the “confused”, the Obama Care for education, and on to roads less traveled.

Some of these representatives and Senators have been in office so long that they feel they have the right of ownership.  They have earned name recognition in their district by their pandering to the mainstream media, and so, as the media goes, so goes the election.   The ideology of the entrenched statist is that the country is great because of government and that the average person cannot handle freedom.

Logic does not change their minds.  Reason does not get their attention.   The only way and the one way is at the voting booth.

"I can go up to Capitol Hill and logically talk to a member of Congress and give them the facts, but that’s not going to change their mind if their ideology tells them something else," he notes. "But, there is one thing that will win an argument in Washington, and that is the fear that politicians have of becoming unemployed themselves by losing their next election."
Bauer believes the only way the effort to socialize America’s healthcare system can be stopped is if thousands of Americans take part in local town hall meetings this month and tell their representatives and senators why they oppose President Obama’s plan for a government takeover of healthcare.  OneNews

Shouting at incumbents at rallies may get their attention and the scorn of the liberal media, but the threat of losing the next election is what drives them.  Click here, here and here to see a few clips of rallies from Texas to NY that happened this past week-end.   It’s inspiring to see conservatives standing up to these statists.   It’s fearful to those incumbents.

This August recess is the time to get their attention, and then to keep the heat on.  Go, go, go.  Click here to see a list of upcoming townhall meetings all over the country.   Courtesy of “Conservatives for Patient Rights.”

This is what the democrats are saying:

“We have encouraged our members to use everything in their arsenal to communicate with their constituents,” said Thornell. “They know what works best in their districts. More than anything, they have to stay on the offense and not get distracted by stupid Republican gimmicks.”

“Stupid republican gimmicks?”   Hey man, wake up, this is America speaking out, not just republicans, but democrats too, and libertarians too, just average Joes from all over the country.  This is not a republican fight, this a fight to keep America, the America that is strongly behind the freedoms as guaranteed in the bill of rights and an America which wants the Constitution adhered to.

Bank overdraft fees by Senator Dodd.

Here’s another reason why Americans of this generation love the government so much.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd said on Tuesday that he is pressing the Federal Reserve to act quickly to prohibit banks from automatically charging overdraft fees on debit card and ATM transactions.

Sure thing Senator.  Remove the responsibility of the consumer for watching his/her bank account(s) to avoid drawing too much out of the account and then get charged overdraft fees.    The people won’t fight Dodd about this and a certain segment of our population will vote for Dodd because he is standing up for their right to be irresponsible. . . and not suffer any consequences.

I had a couple of overdraft fees on my account some time last year, and when I saw them appear on the statement, I was furious.   The bank must have made a mistake.   Not my fault, no siree, I couldn’t have made that mistake.   The bank must be playing around with the figures.  No, folks, I was the idiot who made the mistake, and after I got over my immediate anger reaction at the other guy, I had to look myself in the mirror and say to that mirror: "you idiot, why did you let that happen?"   It was one of those things, as it’s been a very long time, a long long time since I fell asleep at that particular switch to get hit with overdraft fees.   It was just plain stupid.

And now this same people will allow the government to move into their lives as the responsible agent in regards to their personal health care.   Then, they’ll bitch because they’ll have to drive themselves to the doctor.   They’ll bitch because the timing of the appointment is inconvenient.

Rick Strandlof, a true blue democrat.

The Denver Post implies that the democrats are red faced over the scam that Rick Strandlof pulled during the 2008 democrat political campaigns in Colorado.  Yea, right.  He’s was their kind of man. . . until he finished his work.   Now the democrats claim they were duped.   It’s not their fault.  They act as if they really do trust people for who they say they are.   They really do care about the feelings of people.  The news media goes along as also caring trusting people acting on higher moral ground.   Why should we investigate such a guy when he’s doing such a good job supporting the party?

Why?   Well they would have found out that Strandlof’s claim that he was a former Marine was false.   They would have discovered that his claim to have been wounded in Iraq by a roadside bomb was a lie.   And they would have found out that he had spent time in a mental hospital.

Rick was doing good works.

"I think they owe the people in Colorado an apology," said Dick Wadhams, the state GOP chairman. "Somebody who took that kind of prominence in the campaign should have been vetted by the Democrats. Even if they have no idea he was a fraud, I think they bear heavy responsibility."

If Rick Strandlof had been a republican, the entire world would have known about his mental illness, his lies and deceit.   He would have been exposed, just as the news media dug into the private life of Joe the Plumber while Joe was still on the lips of Americans.  Just as the news media sent their army of investigative reporters into Alaska to dig up and invent things about Sarah Palin just days after McCain appointed her as his VP.

But the news media left Rick Strandlof alone until, well, way past the time that the people of Colorado had forgotten all about Rick Strandlof.   His work promoting democrats was finished.   He was used by democrats to advance the party.

Why he’s promoting democrat values, so he must be on the up and up.

That’s OK.

Some say we don’t have a morality problem in America.   The some are progressive liberals who are democrats, who insist that morals are relative and that there cannot be moral standards that apply equally to everyone.

Yep, Rich Strandlof turned out to be true blue liberal through and through.   Do as I say, not as I do.

"Obama programs spiral spending upward"

A must read is the article by Victor Davis Hanson in the Washington times on Sunday.

Maxing out a crisis card

Obama programs spiral spending upward

Imagine that last fall before being elected, Barack Obama had outlined the positions he has embraced since being inaugurated as president. An honest campaign speech could have gone something like this —

”As we approach Election Day, the American people should not waste the crisis we find ourselves in.

“Consequently, if elected, I promise to get us over the Bush financial meltdown with a stimulus program that will borrow $787 billion - which, of course, will add to the already sizable budget deficit (nearly $500 billion) projected in the Bush administration’s last budget.

“By March of next year, my new $3.6 trillion budget will include a spending bill with more than 8,500 budget earmarks to target in-need constituents.

“In addition to the stimulus/borrowing plan, I intend to devote $634 billion to fund a new supplementary national health-care system. But that is not all. Unfortunately, the initial Bush bank bailout of some $700 billion also may well have to be augmented by an additional $750 billion.   Continue . . .

Yep, spending has gone through the roof, congress is purposely out of control and Obama has been up to the plate with nothing but strike outs, yet the umpire press corps is allowing him free walks.    His fans are beginning to see the light of his pre-election hope for changes that are turning into changes against hope.

Letter to the Dear IRS

Fed up time is just around the corner reminding all of us of our debt owed to the federal government for their ineptitude.   If you think the following letter to the editor will ever catch our elected officials by the throat and cause them to consider this as an important indicator of how American citizens feel about the job our congress is doing, then think again.

Americans from coast to coast think that their particular representatives are doing a great job for them and so, the country continues to re-elect these scoundrels over and over again.  We do deserve what we get by continually voting congress into permanent positions.

Consider crazy half baked idea.  If for just one voting period, the states would be randomly scrambled, whereas the citizens of one state would be slated to vote for representatives of another state.  Example: the people from Oklahoma would vote for the candidates running for the US House of Representative and the Senate to represent California.   What would be the outcome?  Wow, Pelosi would be gone.  Barbara Boxer would be gone.  Henry Waxman would be gone.

Dear IRS,

I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to pay taxes owed April 15, but all is not lost.

I have paid these taxes: accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, cigarette tax, corporate income tax, dog licence tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gasoline tax, hunting licence tax, fishing licence tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, medicare tax, city, school and county property tax (up 33 percent last 4 years), real estate tax, social security tax, road usage tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, state franchise tax, state unemployment tax, telephone federal excise tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle licence registration tax, capitol gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and New Mexico sales tax, and many more that I can’t recall but I have run out of space and money.

When you do not receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Rangle, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and ex-Congressman Tom Dashelle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no interest.

P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.

Only Government can solve our problems.

“It is true that we cannot depend on government alone to create jobs or long-term growth, but at this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe,” Obama said. “Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy — where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs which leads to even less spending; where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit.”   Barrack Obama in his speech at George Mason University on 2/08/2008

I’m always puzzled at how an economic system that is good for individuals and families to follow, is considered not good for the government to follow.   Has a financial guru every advised you to spend your way out of your financial troubles.  Run your credit cards up to the max.  Buy a new car with a bank loan, or better yet, go for one of those $50 down, $149 a month deals for a brand new car costing in the twenty thousand range.  The “catch” will come later.  But this is what our government is peddling to the consumer.  We’ve not spent enough of our cash and thus people depending on us to keep spending are losing their jobs.

That last stimulus check in the spring was not big enough to be a stimulus, so now the government is going to stimulate us again.  Not only that, but Obama wants to spend billions modernizing federal buildings into ‘green” monsters, as just one of his many suggestions to save America.

It is time to set a new course for this economy, and that change must begin now. We should have an open and honest discussion about this recovery plan in the days ahead, but I urge Congress to move as quickly as possible on behalf of the American people.

It will not come easy or happen overnight, and it is altogether likely that things may get worse before they get better.

That is why the time has come to build a 21st century economy in which hard work and responsibility are once again rewarded.

More than any program or policy, it is this spirit that will enable us to confront this challenge with the same spirit that has led previous generations to face down war, depression, and fear itself.

We have nothing to fear but fear itself.  The 101st congress lead by Reid and Pelosi.  The left wing media.  Activist Judges.  Islamic radicals.   Al Gore and the UN.   Everyone of them wishing a few radio talk show hosts and web site operators would go broke and shut down before the government “must” to save America.

Obama played same game as Blagojevich.

There’s been a little digging into Obama’s past record in the world of Chicago politics.   Is it possible that Obama has as much dirt in his background of pay-to-play political maneuverings as that governor Blagojevich has been investigated for?   Possible?  Probable?  You think?

It is no secret that, immediately following Obama’s election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, UCMC created a new position called "Vice President for Community and External Affairs" and bestowed it-along with a lavish salary-upon Michelle Obama. It is less well known, however, that one of her husband’s cronies subsequently received preferential treatment in a UCMC contract bidding process. Specifically, the medical center altered its normal procedure for soliciting contact proposals so that longtime Obama "friend" and political donor, Robert Blackwell, could submit a bid to upgrade UCMC’s intranet. Naturally, officials of the medical center deny that the expanded process was in any way connected to Obama’s influence, but Blackwell Consulting was awarded the $600,000 contract.

Oh, but these could be just coincidences, right?   As nothing has been caught in recorded phone calls as with Blagojevich.

Now think for a minute about the push by Obama to nationalize our health care industry into a government run one size fits all type of system.  Who would benefit the most from this type of national system? It’s not the doctors.  It’s for sure not the patients.   It’s not the hospitals.  Unions.  Yes, unionizing the health care workers.  And under the gun of a government run system, unions are right there to make sure the workers get all they can get, guaranteed for life.   Throw in a golf course resort for fun.

Among the most generous of Obama’s supporters was another entity that has figured prominently in the Illinois culture of corruption — the Service Employees International Union. According to CNSNews, the SEIU’s political action committee made "more than $27 million in independent expenditures" in support of Obama’s presidential campaign while its members "knocked on 1.87 million doors, made 4.4 million phone calls, registered 85,914 voters and sent more than 2.5 million pieces of mail."

In return for all this largesse, the SEIU wants help in unionizing the health care industry. And a clear sign that Obama intends to provide that assistance can be found in his nomination of California Representative Hilda Solis, the hand-picked candidate of SEIU President Andy Stern, for U.S. Secretary of Labor. Solis made her priorities clear during the press conference at which her nomination was announced: "As secretary of Labor, I’ll work to strengthen our unions …" And a key strategy in "strengthening" unions will be an aggressive program to organize health care workers. Indeed, she has a track record of doing just that. As it was phrased in the gleeful news release from SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West, "She has stood alongside healthcare workers as they fought to form unions in their hospitals."

Read more of this from the American Thinker.

Who will pay for it all . . . taxpayers.   Come on people, we’ve got to stop thinking that a government run program is free.   Nothing the government does is free.  Anything and everything the government does is enabled by the taxes paid for by the people, everything.   Their recent pay increase was not approved by the people, yet we are paying for it, while a clear majority of Americans would have disapproved it.

Vote them all out on their next re-election bid.  "There are none righteous, no not one."

Franken to be declared winner.

Not really a surprise.   The democrats have learned a few things since the recount of George W. Bush against who was it, Gore in 2000.  No hanging chads here, just decisions on where to put the marks on ballots.  So funny man Al Franken will head to the senate to entertain the other 99.

Bout time for a law that declares a mismarked ballot as trash, since the voter is too dumb to mark the ballot correctly according to plainly marked instructions, the voter then should be declared too stupid to vote and the ballot heads to the trash bucket.
