Federal Government is as Moses

Published by Arnie under Nanny State, Education, Health Care

Our school kids are lagging behind other countries in scientific studies; physics, geology, and math too. English proficiency is on a decline too, as educational experts wish to include ethnic dialects such as Ebonics into standard graduate requirements, as soon as those who practice Ebonics write the dictionary. History and ancient literature have been modernized to meet the ideology of elite ones who have become in touch with their deep feelings of how History should have been recorded. But you need not worry about the kids passing the tests, as no one is left behind.

After a few decades of mastering self-esteem training and eliminating playground bruised knees, Americans are still considered confused about bruised knees, elbows, how to sneeze, and how to get self-esteemed. We know that because Kathleen Sebelius is the cabinet level department head and she said “we have a lot of re-education to do”. She’s talking about all of us: Seniors, midders, 20/30 strugglers, teens and those right wing radical pre-Ks too. We all need to go back to school to relearn things, especially those things concerned with our health and respecting government authority.

Her department specialty is Health and Human Services, a very, very, highly important monopolistic agency that is very adept at informing us all what to do, when to do it and how in regards to our safety. She recently had a video about how to sneeze. Her job is “protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.” Now that includes things like the best way to exercise, the basics of eating right, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, when to get a vaccination shot, what tests are needed to monitor your health, and all things pertaining to safety in the work place, at home, in a shelter or roaming somewhere.

With a budget of $845.4 billion you’d think she have someone on her staff to advise her to sit down and shut up, that Americans don’t need you to tell them how to sneeze. Every year the agency gets deeper in debt as our population keeps growing while they are concerned that there are too many people already. Wow. How does she sleep at night worrying about all that stuff? I had enough time keeping my four kids somewhat healthy, but how can she keep 300 million healthy? No one had to tell me that exercise was good for me, and that vegetables was better for my body than greasy french fries, and when a kid scraped his head and shoulder falling off the bike because he was playing an Evil Knievel trick then the kid learned a bit about bicycle tricks.

Where was HHS back then? PBS was not broadcasting sneezing hints.

Evidently, HHS feels we’ve been doing these things all wrong for generations now as we the people just don’t get it. We don’t exercise enough. We don’t eat right. We don’t maintain our health very well. We seem to skip the shots. We don’t know much about the tests we should take. We know nothing about keeping the workplace safe, the home safe, sound and healthy. We don’t train our kiddies very well in the right and approved tested methods of playground playing. Are we just stubborn or just plain dumb?

I guess she’s right. We have a lot of re-education to do. Just imagine what a country this would be if we all just fell in line and followed the advice of HHS. No fat kids. No skinny kids. No sick kids. No hungry kids. No hurt kids. No angry kids. No bullies. No gender specific kids. No one left behind. Every kid gets an ‘A” in self-esteem, bigotedlessness and playground activities.

Hmm? The government is as Moses readying to take us over to the promised land.

Learning from what’s been tried before. British NHS.

Over the years, we the people have been led to believe that progressives, also known as higher education academia, liberals, politicians called democrats (and many republicans too), and socialists/Marxists were the experts continually providing Americans with all that expert advice on how we needed to live our lives.   They’ve insisted they had our best interests in mind.   They’ve insisted they had the evidence.  Just as we’ve seen in the UNIPCC temperature data to manufacture the GW agenda, the evidence was tampered with.  Now we’ve learned that there really is a brotherhood of journolisters conspiring behind the scenes.   Independent news broadcasters?   Yeah sure, we bought that line.   You’ve seen the news broadcasts over the years telling us that the “experts” have discovered . . . . blah blah blah, and that . . . . blah blah blah was good for us.   It continues on for weeks as daily sound bites.   Repeating something over and over will finally sink in and soon the “we the people” will fall in line and behave as sheep.

The progressive expert scientists have told us the world began with a big bang, but how can nothing make a bang?   From that we have had blah, blah, and more blah about how removing the Ten Commandments from schools was about separating church and state and that it was really really good for us to be quiet as there are those who might get offended.  We were told that banning DDT would save the earth, but the fall out of not killing mosquitoes was killing millions of people. The progressive science experts told us melting icebergs will flood our lands unless we abandon our vehicles and comfy lifestyles, but suspend a glass with ice and water in a bathtub and it won’t flood over the tub.  How many melted ice bergs will it take to raise 71% of the earth’s surface to flood stage?  Blah blah blah.   Are those experts secretly building an ark somewhere?  Now, even a Christian denomination has accepted the . . . blah blah blah and are allowing celibate homosexual priests to be sexually active.   Huh?  Scientific studies said they have an abnormal gene and can’t help it?  Experts?  How can a government funded scientific study be seriously taken as seriously scientific?

So now the experts have a plan to provide health care and insurance for everyone, and it would dramatically improve our health care system, and . . . it will really be affordable for everyone, of course.  So say the experts.  It will revolutionize American health care.  No one will be without insurance.   You will no longer have to worry about a health emergency wiping out the bank account.  Children will be covered for all their growing up wheezes and accidents, and gang members can get treatments too.  The ones with previously existing conditions will be covered removing the anxiety and decisions of paying the high cost of insurance or feeding the family.  Yes, it all sounds so morally right.  It all sounds so caring, so charitable, so timely.  How could anyone stand against such a utopia?   No worries from here on out.  The experts will take care of Grandma too.  Trust them.  The congressional committee “studies” confirm the experts.

The story will be similar to what is happening right now to the British system started in 1948.

Practical details of the plan are still sketchy. But its aim is clear: to shift control of England’s $160 billion annual health budget from a centralized bureaucracy to doctors at the local level. Under the plan, $100 billion to $125 billion a year would be meted out to general practitioners, who would use the money to buy services from hospitals and other health care providers.

The plan would also shrink the bureaucratic apparatus, in keeping with the government’s goal to effect $30 billion in “efficiency savings” in the health budget by 2014 and to reduce administrative costs by 45 percent. Tens of thousands of jobs would be lost because layers of bureaucracy would be abolished.   Read it all. . .

How long will it take our leaders, our experts to learn from historical accounts of what’s been tried before by previous “experts”?

Every High School Student should have such a Principal.

Published by Arnie under Self-Reliance, Education

Dennis Prager has a speech ready for every High School Principal to give his/her students at the beginning of the upcoming year.

Here’s the beginning:

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country.

First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships.

The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity — your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American. This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans.   Read on . . .

Americans dumb and stupid.

Those folks running the show up there in Washington land think that Americans are dumb.  Those average folks all over the country think those people up there in Washington are stupid.

Would someone remind us again why the nation elected this man to be president? A man with no resume, a man with no experience in running anything other than a political campaign, a man who is ignorant of history, economics, and technology? A man who is shallow and lazy? A man who shares neither character nor temperament with the American people in this vast republic? How did this happen?  The Smallest President

That ought to do it folks.  Every last one of us is dumb, and or stupid.  Did I leave anyone out?   The political class calls us dumb and we the people think their stupid butts ought to be sent home in need of guidance.

And so it is written in American Thinker today:

We do not read what they want us to read, vote the way they want us to vote, buy what they want us to buy, or believe the way they want us to believe. The United States bounded by the Hudson River and Rodeo Drive is a black hole of intellect and culture desperately in need of guidance.

Hmm?  They lead and control the educational system of the country.

A few days ago, Mark Stein (a Canadian) wrote We’re too broke to be stupid.   But we’re also “rich enough that we can afford to be stupid.”

In the economic expansion of the late 20th century, citizens of Western democracies paid more in taxes but lived better than their parents and grandparents. They weren’t exactly rich, but they got richer. They also got more stupid. When William Beveridge laid out his blueprint for the modern British welfare state in 1942, his goal was the “abolition of want.” Sir William and his colleagues on both sides of the Atlantic succeeded beyond their wildest dreams: to be “poor” in the 21st-century West is not to be hungry and emaciated but to be obese, with your kids suffering from childhood diabetes. When Michelle Obama turned up to serve food at a soup kitchen, its poverty-stricken clientele snapped pictures of her with their cellphones. In one-sixth of British households, not a single family member works. They are not so much without employment as without need of it. At a certain level, your hard-working bourgeois understands that the bulk of his contribution to the treasury is entirely wasted. It’s one of the basic rules of life: if you reward bad behaviour, you get more of it. But, in good and good-ish times, who cares?

We’re rich enough that we can afford to be stupid.

We’ve hit a new milestone in America where dumb is cool and stupid is uncontrollable.

School choice, treating the Unions fairly

Published by Arnie under Education

Here’s a good lesson for our politicians to learn on how to treat a union hell bent on protecting their own interests and not allowing the other side to express their views.

A New Jersey lawmaker stood up to the union thugs.

New Jersey Teachers Union Forced to Take Back Seat to Kids

“The NJEA and their supporters packed the room.  I asked them to allow for fifty percent of supporters of the legislation in the room or else I was going to have them take the meeting outside so that everybody can see it.  They refused to leave the room, so we’re going to have the committee meeting right here.  Outside.”  More. . .

What a unique concept in the America of 2010.

Why work anymore? . . Nancy Says quit your job.

What’s the use of working hard anymore?  Why should we toil day after day to keep food (governed by the FDA) on the table, and live in a home (regulated by the EPA) send our kids to school (regulated by the NEA), drive a vehicle (built by the Feds), and try to save (regulated by Barney Frank) for a rainy day?  Why?  It used to be the American way to work hard to achieve, to exceed, to excel, to enjoy the fruits of our labor.   It used to inspire us to work harder.  We used to dream of a better life than what granddad had, a bigger and more equipped home in the suburbs away from the crime and corruption of the big congested cities, a place where our kids could be safer, play safer in the streets and parks, be involved in local sports and activities, and get a better education under teachers and administrators who were truly interested in seeing the students learn about this great country called America.

No so anymore.

The Speaker of the House, elected by the people, speaking from her heart and soul had this to say: “. . . if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

So, if you have not yet developed any skills necessary to make a living, so what.  You can now quit the job you use to support yourself while you brush up on those skills in the evenings so that later on those skills may be marketable.  Just quit and go on welfare.  The rest of us will take care of you.  You’ll still have your health care coverage.  Nancy will see to that.  You can divorce your wife but still cohabitate and the feds will send you more cash.  Obama will see to it.  The liberals will see that your every need will be met.  You can still hold onto the HD TV, the fancy furniture, the nice comfy place to live, a good dependable car to drive, etc and etc.  On top of that, they’ll provide a good retirement account too.  Congress will see to it.

Government is at your side every step of the way so that you can rest easy; no risks, no chance of failing, no chance of being fired, no chance of being offended.

America, where have you gone?

Americans don’t get Global Warming because they’re at a 6th grade level.

One of our esteemed representatives, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), says that the reason Americans don’t understand the global warming mess is because it is being presented to them above their grade level.   That grade level is beginning middle school 6th grade.

Hmm.

Missourians of the 5th congressional district, wake up.  He just called you all a bunch of dumbasses who can’t get it.

Put Cleaver on the list to join the ranks of previously employed representative of the people.

Washington is infected with insects.

When you see insects eating away on a rose shrub, what do you do?  When your precious tomato plant is being devoured by insects, what do you do?

All gardeners know that a jar of insecticide must be kept handy to use against the varmints that suck the life out of your beautiful rose or tomato bush.  You’ve got to get those invaders once they start showing themselves.  They can be hand picked and stomped on.  But you won’t get them all, nor will you even see them all.  Better yet is a preventative program that puts up a shield of protection against the enemies; like a pre-mixed solution saturating the ground the plants send their roots into.  But once that’s been accomplished, a continual inspection of your roses and tomatoes for those insects that are still able to get through all of your previous techniques, is needed so that all your hard work will not be spoiled.

It’s work to bring a tomato plant to harvest.  It diligent work to tend the roses so their beauty will manifest itself.

Our congress and the federal agencies are full of insects who are sucking the life out of America and they need to be removed.   They can be hand picked and removed, but if that don’t work to revive America the Great, probably then the entire body will need to be sprayed.

It’s a common practice to spray rose bushes every two weeks, so think of congress as needing to be made insect free every two years.

If you’re against using an insecticidal spray because of purest environmental reasons, then you’d better just forget about taking a salt shaker out to the garden, picking a nice juicy ripe home grown tomato, biting into it and savoring each chew, or enjoying the splendor, the aroma and beauty of a bush full of magnificent roses.  Ride your bike to the store and buy the tasteless canned tomatoes lacking the natural nutrients of a fresh vegetable.  Get a villa or a high rise apartment, stay out of the way, stay home and leave the ground work of building America to the millions of us who are willing, able and with diligence select and elect politicians who will hold the constitution of ours in high esteem with a return to federalism.

Over a quarter of young adults are too fat to fight.

School lunches are to blame for the obese children in this country says a group of retired military officers.  More than a quarter of our youth, aged 17 to 24 are too fat to meet the physical requirements of military service.  Are school lunches a national security threat?

But that’s not all.  The lack of a high school diploma is also keeping kids out of military service.

So what’s happened over the past decade or so that the obesity epidemic has grown out of proportion, and education standards have  taken a nosedive?   This is America folks, the land of the free and home of the brave.  At least it used to be proud of the countries ability meet the enemy head on and fight to win.  Now our military is endangered.

Of course, in this age of big government everyone looks to the congress to do something rather than putting the blame on parents themselves.   Congress makes all kinds of laws and regulations forcing people to change their behavior.  There’s always a special rhetorical ring to the purpose of regulations.  “This bill. .. puts us on the path to ending childhood hunger and addressing the epidemic of childhood obesity,” said Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark.,

If only.

Changing the food in cafeterias will not solve the problem.  Giving the schools an additional 6 cents per each lunch served will not solve the problem.  Expanding the number of kids eligible for free lunches will not solve the problem.

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 would commit an additional $4.5 billion to child-nutrition programs over the next 10 years and implement the most sweeping changes to those programs in decades. Among other things, the bill directs the U.S. Department of Agriculture to set new nutrition standards for all food served in schools, from lunchrooms to vending machines.

. . . .

One of the bill’s chief goals is to expand the number of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals.

And then some of the people said: Oh goody, see how much they care for us.   And some of the mommies said: My darling does not like vegetables.  He wants a grilled cheese with fries.

Parents must solve the problem.   So what’s wrong if a kid goes without a lunch?   Will the kid die?  Will he/she suffer hunger?  Will malnutrition set in?  Only if parents are not taking responsibility themselves, waking the kid up early enough to get oatmeal and then serving the precious darling a home cooked meal in the evening as the entire family sits around the table hashing over the homework assignments for the night so they can graduate high school.

We the people are forcing the department of Agriculture to get bigger and stronger with increasing power over the myriad details of keeping ourselves healthy.  Parents, that precious child you have is your responsibility.

Only 70 percent of kids go on to graduate HS.

Published by Arnie under Conservatism, Obama, Education

Since the drop out rate seems to be increasing, Obama is proposing to send $900 million to the states to allocate to the worst performing schools.

Only about 70 percent of entering high school freshmen go on to graduate. The problem affects blacks and Latinos at particularly high rates.

Obama described the crisis as one that hurts individual kids and the nation as a whole, shattering dreams and undermining an already hurting economy.

“There’s got to be a sense of accountability,” Obama said in announcing his latest get-tough school proposal at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  Obama seeks money, interventions to stem dropouts

He’s right, there has to be a sense of accountability.  But Obama left off the part about consequences.  But who really is responsible for the kids poor performance?  The parents.  And if the parents don’t take responsibility for their own kids, but allow them to mess around and not concentrate on getting the grades necessary to graduate, then what?  What are the consequences?

We’re in that predicament now.

Sending $900 billion to the school districts will not help.

But spending much less to establish special schools and hire the teachers and staff all across the land would do the trick.

Scare the daylights out of these kids.  Graduate or else.  Or else you’re going to be gathered up and sent to a military type of reform school that will whip you into shape in no time.  It’ll seem like a prison with prison type fences and guards.  They’ll put you in a uniform and be “in your face” continually.  Military sergeants will be waking you up in the morning before the sun rises, marching you over to breakfast, marching you to the class rooms where you’ll learn to sit and behave and pay attention for 6 hours each day.  And then the sergeants will march you to physical exercise programs, then to the mess hall, some additional marching and back to the barracks and your very own bunk bed where you’ll learn to study for the next days classes.  Lights out mean lights out.  No TV.  No cell phones.  No music.  No drugs.  No smoking.  None of that kind of stuff.  No freedom till you earn it.  No week-ends or holidays off till you earn it.  No summers off till you earn it.  No visits from mommy till you earn it.

Just a very strict reform type school, something like the voluntary program called “Teen Boot Camps.”
