Tourists are among worst polluters.

Published by Arnie under Uncategorized

How can they have it both ways.  The tourist industry thrives on the monies of these vacationing rich and famous, and the ordinary folks traveling to far away resorts for a few days of diversion.   The environmental zealots don’t like it, yet spend millions of hot air gases seeking out ways to curb the freedoms of ordinary folks.  Now, the rich and famous don’t care either, because they can buy their way out with carbon offsets, but us ordinary, run of the mill, hard working folks, would rather spend that extra hard saved cash for that once in a life-time trip to wherever.   But now.  The greenies are wanting to curb the travel of tourists.

Tourists Cause Global Warming.

Don’t ask, and don’t tell, except for reporters.

All day long this is all I’ve been hearing, the chattering is deafening, the chatter is this sided, or that sided, and not what is best for the military and therefore, the country.   The general should have kept his mouth shut, but instead he let his personal feelings be known and thus, it has erupted into a national controversy.  Now, considering it was an interview with the Chicago Tribune, a reporter could have pushed his button for his personal views, and the general naively obliged.  Just wondering.  Now, Nancy has opened her mouth, and it is becoming a big, larger than necessary issue.  Political points being sought.

The current policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell” is the best of any possible solutions, bar none.  It’s clear, it’s understandable and does not discriminate.  A person is judged based on their own personal biological equipment, nothing more, nothing less.  Males and females are treated the same, as in the Military tradition.  Nothing more.  Nothing less than full rights for either sex.

Now, the Chicago Tribune had this to add to the story.  “Pace’s statements in the interview turned into a huge news story on radio, television and the Internet during the day and showed how sensitive the Pentagon’s policy has become.”  No, it showed how insensitive the statement of General Pace was, not the policy of don’t ask, don’t tell, because that policy is working.  It’s not the policy, it was the statement, and this is where reporters just love to jump in with both left feet and manufacture a controversy, stir the pot, and turn the heat up on the frog, just to get your ratings.  But now, the policy is under fire, a policy signed into law under the Clinton administration and working just fine.  Now it’s time for more political meanderings by both parties seeking points with the gay community.

The talk on the radio waves today was about changing the policy to allow gays to openly serve in the military.  Now there’s a pandoras box.

Knowing that the historical advocacy of the gay community has been pushing the agenda beyond the limits, they would see to it that this debate is expanded beyond gays and lesbians to, how about transsexuals, cross dressers?  Knowing how our courts have decided in the favor of minorities having equal civil rights, and they should, as the gays and bunch are considered a legal minority, the subject of separate rest room facilities, separate but equal tents and all of that stuff would become the major focus of equal rights for orientations in the military.  Would only be fair, right?

Let’s just not go down that road, leave things as they are, and forget the general and his remarks, and chalk this up as one big snafu that should not have happened.  The Chicago Tribune should have turned off the mikes, erased the remarks and let it be for the sake of the country.  We do not have the right to know the inner feelings of every official in this country, nor do we care.  Just let them do their job.  If it will make everyone happy and settle the matter, the general has apologized.  Now, you feel better, don’t you?  But you know too, that this is just too good of an opportunity to get points, so it will not be forgive, forget and go on.  Political points are to be gained.  Another subject to run the endless gauntlet of TV news rooms.   Rossie will be featured on Larry King for her “view.”  Keep the remote handy.

Libby and Berger, a contrast of justice. Liberal style.

Published by Arnie under Congress and foolishness

Scooter Libby may go to jail, but Sandy Berger is free as a hog. Do you perceive a bias here? Is there something wrong, that just does not add up to justice, that goes beyond a mystery novelist imaginations? But again the saying that “truth is stranger than fiction” is again showed to be so.

President Bill Clinton’s National Security Advisor Sandy Berger was caught stealing documents from the National archives and has pleaded guilty, but will not go to jail. The case is not over yet, but the DOJ sees no need. Amanda Carpenter has the story here.

“In a curt February 16 letter, the Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed a 60-page report by the Republican staff of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Affairs that demanded Berger be given the polygraph test he agreed to take in order to determine the extent of his theft of materials from the Archives.” “We believe there are no facts that would justify a polygraph of Mr. Berger at this time,” said a letter from Acting Assistant Atty. Gen. Richard Hertling to the committee’s ranking Republican member, Rep. Tom Davis (R.-Va.)”

The Republicans on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform are now rightly asking that that test be administered in order to help determine the extent of Berger’s theft of classified documents from the National Archives.

Summary. A conservative high up on the republican White House staff is found guilty of a bad memory and could serve 20 years in jail, but a liberal high up on the staff of Democrat Clinton caught stealing classified documents gets a misdemeanor charge.

Truth is stranger than fiction. Truth is outlawed, fiction is more readable. Have you curled up to a good novel recently? Read the liberal talking points, as it is all fictitious.

Climate Crisis Action Day…. Green Activist party time.

Published by Arnie under Environmental

Time for all conservatives to get involved before March 20th, because that is the date set for hysteria in Washington DC for the Climate Crisis Action Day. By getting involved, I mean resisting this action of hysteria that is creeping over the country like an ozone layer of soot, belched forth out of the mouths of green hippies.

“Congress should act now to cap emissions of global warming gases from dirty utilities, smoke-belching factories, and gas-guzzling cars, trucks and SUVs. A cap on emissions would level the playing field for clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies that have been within our grasp for years but crowded out by subsidies for fossil fuel. Let’s call on Congress to pass the Arctic Wilderness Act and legislation to stop the threat of global warming.”

Read more about it here.

Do you know what they mean by caps on emissions? It means that every industry, every business, every utility, every household would have an established cap, a limit to how much energy could be used or consumed. Personally, you would have to figure your carbon footprint based on the size home, number of occupants, type of heat and air, cars driven and how many miles per year, wood burning stove, and all of that garbage. One of the carbon footprint estimators want to know whether you take showers or baths. If you are burning too much, then you would either have to reduce consumption, or purchase emission offsets from an environmentally friendly site, an emissions trading place, so that they could plant trees, install windmills and all of that green friendly stuff.. Then you could continue on your merry way and run that SUV all you want. Just pay up man. Does that sound reasonable to you?

If you can’t afford the “fee”, then, well, I guess you’d have to sell the car for a 10 speed bike, to keep the home heated, or turn off the gas furnace and buy blankets to do your part to combat global warming hysteria. If you do not agree, well, too bad.

From Cybercast News Service.

“Questions (and answers) to be addressed at the event include:”

  • “Why must we act now to fight global warming?
Activists’ answer: “Science tells us that we can prevent the worst effects if we cut emissions enough to keep temperatures from rising more than 2.4 degrees Fahrenheit above today’s levels.” (Skeptics say the science has been hyped beyond what the facts support.) ;”
  • “What is at stake?
Answer: “The Arctic and other pristine public lands face thawing, drought, forest fires and other warming effects. Sea level rise could create millions of ‘eco refugees’ as people flee coasts.” (Scaremongering, some Americans insist.) ;”
  • “What can we do?
Answer: “Support investments in efficiency and renewable energy, reduce global warming pollution, and protect the Arctic wilderness.” (Reducing greenhouse gas emissions will “shut down the machine we call America,” says Sen. James Inhofe, a leading critic of the argument that human activity is causing climate change.)”

  • Senator Inhofe is right about that. It would shut down America. It would force industry to “cap” their energy consumption at a certain level as determined by some bureaucrat in Washington. It would force the citizens to conserve their energy consumption to a level determined by the whim of a bureaucrat in Washington. Say good-bye to your freedom. Can you imagine an energy cap being forced on a hospital?
Can you imagine an energy cap being forced on your local police force? Your local fire department? I’m sorry, we cannot come to put your fire out as there has been too many fires this year, we ran out of emission credit funds, so we are shut down for the rest of the year.

Does this sound like the America I know as the greatest country ever, the country with people of boundless energy and capabilities, inventiveness and intellectual curiosity, a country more diverse and tolerant than any other, a country of freedom of choice like none other, a country with educational opportunities that draws students from all over the world, a country of unselfish patriots willing to risk their own life to protect the freedoms of people he or she never met? That is the America I know. The America these people are advocating is some hippie pipe dream of a utopia under constant blue skies all singing together “we are the world”, and then going home, driving the same size vehicle of some sort, to the same size box as everyone else, all painted green.

Just take a look at what organizations are sponsoring this event. Celebrities are also expected to attend.

Come on conservatives, let’s resist this hatred for America. Just an idea, at this page, you can print out a poster publicizing the event, then take a red magic marker, draw a circle with a slash through it, and post it in your car window, on your front door, wherever.
