Pelosi says Iran’s goodwill made surge successful.

Published by Arnie under THE War

Nancy Pelosi, a liberal leftist of the anti-American kind, yet paid by Americans to spout off her true beliefs about the war on terror, had this to say in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle: “Well, the purpose of the surge was to provide a secure space, a time for the political change to occur to accomplish the reconciliation. That didn’t happen. Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal. And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians-they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities-the Iranians.” Link to story.

Now that’s like saying that when a kid on the playground stands up to a bully and the bully backs away, then it’s the goodwill of the bully that was the deciding factor that the playground is now a peaceful place for kids to play.

When Hitler’s army was defeated, it was because of their goodwill they decided to cut and run and surrender.

When Japan surrendered, it was because of their goodwill.

And this lady is the Speaker of the House?    3rd in line to become the President.

Republicans have lost their courage.

Where are the republicans?

I get mail and calls from the GOP looking for donations and for the last few years, I just hang up on these guys.  They don’t seem to represent any of my conservative values any longer.  Earmarks?  You can’t tell the difference between either party.  So where are they?  The party lost the majority last year.   The presidential race has John McCain, a moderate holding hands with Kennedy on immigration reform, and in lock step with Liberal Rush Feingold on campaigning finance finance laws, and McCain seems to favor a cap and trade scheme to combat a fraudulent Gore/UN global hoax.

Most believe the House will be democrat again, as will the Senate, and if Obama wins, watch out, what’s to stop the frenzy to re-make America into some kind of socialist dream?   It won’t be the left over timid republicans.  If McCain can beat Obama for the White House, who knows what other bending over McCain will do to advance the social agenda of far left liberal causes.

Why are republican like that?

NLC.  No Longer Conservative.  No Living Courage.

“Those people who are fiscally conservative, Republican or not, we don’t have many years left that we better fix this, and we better be about it now,” said Coburn on CNN Headline News Wednesday. “So [it’s about] holding the Republicans accountable. And we’re going lose some seats. There’s no question about it. We deserve to.”

That’s my man: Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.   One of the few conservative republicans left around Washington.

“I think they’ve lost their courage,” Coburn said. “And I think the focus has been on short-term benefits, rather than long-term leaders of the country. And I think they have to start acting like Republicans. And they either have to believe it or not. And if they believe it, they’ll vote that way. And if they don’t, they really aren’t Republicans.”

Say it again Tom.

Once again.

Keep hammering away Tom.

What really motivated Texas Child Protection Services

Was that one phone call from an anonymous person, who has yet to be found, claiming that she was a teen abused by an adult, the real motivation for the Texas Child Protection Services to raid a private ranch and remover 430 children?

Were they really concerned only with protecting the children from further abuse?

Or, was there a deeper hidden from the public view motivation?

Read the following and it makes a person wonder.

Let’s see, 430 children adopted out to loving parents at $4000 each equals $1,720,000 and then that figured multiplied by the percentage that the state exceeds it’s adoption goal.

The Examiner has some insight.

When Congress passed the 1997 Adoption and Safe Families Act, it allowed states to terminate parental rights after a child has been in foster care longer than 15 months.

But the law, intended to keep children from truly abusive homes from languishing in foster care for years, had unintended consequences.

States receive a $4,000 cash bonus from the federal government for each child adopted, multiplied by the percentage that the state exceeds its adoption goal.

The system gives child protective agencies a powerful financial incentive to terminate parental rights, something which they did more than 79,000 times nationwide in 2006, according to the federal Administration for Children and Families (ACF).

And since infants and toddlers are much easier to place in adoptive homes, they’re often targeted for removal by overzealous social workers based on flimsy or anonymous evidence of parental abuse or neglect.

The 15-month clock, which starts ticking as soon as a child goes into foster care, can easily be run down by months of forced psychological testing and the filing of legal motions and other delaying tactics.

These tactics give a clear advantage to CPS bureaucrats, who have unlimited time and financial resources to wage what often amounts to legal warfare against stunned and beleaguered parents who basically have to prove their own innocence.

If a person commits murder or robs a bank, prosecutors must prove their guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Not so in the Alice-in-Wonderland world of CPS, where individuals and parents are considered guilty as charged by anonymous tipsters whose hidden motivations are never brought to light.

Once the 15 months is up, that fact alone can be used as legal justification to terminate parental rights.

It costs child protective agencies $20,000 on average to keep a child in foster care, versus $8,000 for in-home services for troubled families. This means that a host of lawyers, social workers, therapists, psychologists and other professionals make a lot more money when families are broken apart.

And although CPS’ stated goal is family reunification, the reality is that these agencies reap a second financial windfall when the forced separation between child and parent becomes permanent.

Hmmmm!    Something to wonder about.    Could it be?   Could they be that cold?   Or, is CPS really only concerned with the over-all safety of the kids?

Polygamist camp in Texas wins

Published by Arnie under Education, Religion

Three cheers.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - In a crushing blow to the state’s massive seizure of children from a polygamist sect’s ranch, the Texas Supreme Court ruled Thursday that child welfare officials overstepped their authority and the children should go back to their parents.

The high court affirmed a decision by an appellate court last week, saying Child Protective Services failed to show an immediate danger to the more than 400 children swept up from the Yearning For Zion Ranch nearly two months ago.

Now, sue the pants off the Teas Child Protective Service for endangering the lives of the children—-emotional stress —- mental stress and everything between.

The State Legislature needs to make sure this does not happen again to any group of children under similar circumstances.  A judgement (with sufficient evidence to support it) from a judge is needed before any seizure of children.

Nanny state has raised it’s ugly head again, and shot down again.

See my previous post on the 27th.

In all of the pictures of the children being removed, did anyone see any morbidly obese children among them?   Who needs protection from who?  Which is better, a bunch of overweight indulgent kids among a bunch of overweight obese parents, or kids who are disciplined in what they eat and how much, among loving parents who are also disciplined?

Good Bye Susan

Published by Arnie under Entertainment, Electioneering

Susan Sarandon says that she will move to Italy or Canada if John McCain is elected president.

Does she need some one to help pack her bags.  They may be volunteers by the millions hoping to get the chance to pack her bags, just to see her get out of America.   Leave now they chant.  When?  Why wait?  Leave.

But hey, what happened with that other Hollywood celebrity that promised he would leave the country if G W Bush was elected?   He stayed around to enjoy the benefits for a few more million bucks, so I suspect that Susan will also.   They know a good thing when they experience it, and I can give them credit for that.    It’s so hard to admit being wrong headed.

Their hypocrisy is evident again and again.

Why do we even bother.

Hollywood sucks.

Traffic not good for Tulsa’s Air.

A front page story of the Tulsa world highlighted just how bad, how horrible is the traffic situation in Tulsa.

A report ranks Tulsa 11th amid the larger carbon footprints per capita in the U.S.

According to the report, Tulsa’s air is worse than New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and a host of other large cities in America, like Chicago or Denver.  Yep, that’s right, that’s what this report states.  However there is more to the story.

carbon_footprint001_rf

The report states that the average Tulsa citizen produces more than twice the footprint of people in those other huge metropolitan cities like Los Angeles.  It’s now called a partial footprint.

The problem is that cities like Tulsa are more dependent on personal vehicular traffic than places with mass transportation systems.  Also, the use of fossil fuels for generating electricity is greater in towns like Tulsa than other larger metro areas where the use of solar and hydro power are common.

However, and here is how the report came up with the conclusions that they did.  Emissions from commercial buildings and industry were removed.  “The footprint is, however, a partial footprint because it does not include emissions from commercial buildings or industry.”

For a full 83 page PDF report click here.

So what’s the purpose of this report on the front page?

  • The ranking is hoped to promote a virtuous competition among cities.
  • Andrea Aryans, a report author and research analyst at Brooking’s, said the federal government has fallen behind on its climate policy.
  • Aryans said that carbon’s climate affects are not part of the price of gas or electricity but should be.
  • “If we raise the price, people tend to use less,” she said.

It’s just another scare us all out of our SUV’s, our incandescent light bulbs, our thermostats set at 72, and into the back ages.   Raising prices reduces demand.  That’s good.  Increasing supply lowers prices and increases usage.  That’s bad.

What do these people want American citizens to do anyway?  Sure, we’ve got to cut back on our driving and watch our power usage and our eating out as often as we do as food prices rise also.   We’ve got to.   We don’t have much else of a choice do we?

But where is congress?  Why is our congress in Washington so bull headed against increasing the oil companies ability to build more refineries and drill for more oil that is abundantly available?   They could really help the average American, but no, it’s not part of the playbook.

It’s not part of the socialist agenda for control and power.

A good old fashioned recession is just over the horizon, as people spend more for gas and food, the expenditures for clothing, furniture, appliances, entertainment, electronics etc. will suffer and people will lose their jobs as stores close, and then taxes must be increased to pay unemployment and provide food stamps and public assistance, and as taxes increase less money is available for groceries and gasoline.

It’s all part of the grand socialist agenda.  Make us all dependent on the government.

Congress takes a vacation and America sighs with relief.

For awhile anyway.  We can have a little relief from the devastating effects of congressional porking when those humanoids leave town.

“This is a good week – a pause in the extreme makeover of America. Congress is not passing any new laws that we don’t need, because it’s not in session.”

“It’s a chance to catch our breath and take stock of how our government is changing our country, even though we have a few months before we might elect a president whose mantra is “change.”"  So says Ernest Istook

“We’re already witnessing how green-centric policies have made energy prices and food prices skyrocket. Those will continue rippling through multiple sectors of the economy, driving down business and leisure travel, shipping, tourism, lodging, eating out and so forth.”

You may want to read more details I’ve skipped over, here.

There’s not much good news coming from the Congress, unless you’re a fan of creeping socialism. The next big debate is on the “cap and trade” bill that could crush our economy to “save” us from global warming.

The common factor in everything is that Congress is re-shaping our society, without waiting for the results of the presidential election. The only good news is that it’s an election year, so they want to get out of town early so they can campaign. Let’s not gripe when Congress takes a vacation, because that’s when they do the least damage.”

So as Congress goes home for the week, are they showing us the way? Are they being examples for the rest of us by taking the bus?

Gore is not willing to debate climate change.

Published by Arnie under Environmental

This is as expected.   Al Gore, the former VP, does not want to be known as the former anything anymore, so no way will he open up to a fair and impartial debate.  He would be whooped, and dear Al does not like to be whooped up on.  Thus, we that refute the theory of human being caused global warming are all just deniers, and are likened to holocaust deniers like that fool in Iran.  Everyone knows you cannot debate with your enemies.  So, no debate.

Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. “I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he’s not too much willing to make such a conversation,” Klaus said. “So I’m ready to do it.”

Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.

“My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity,” he said.

Klaus compares climate alarmism to the decades of communist dictatorship he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.

“Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality,” he said.

“In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat - this time, in the name of the planet,” he added.

Klaus said a free market should be used to address environmental concerns and said he oppposed as unrealistic regulations or greenhouse gas capping systems designed to reduce the impact of climate change.

“It could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of the global warming propaganda,” he said.

Klaus alleged that the global warming was being championed by scientists and other environmentalists whose careers and funding requires selling the public on global warming.

“It is in the hands of climatologists and other related scientists who are highly motivated to look in one direction only,” Klaus said.

Is that really what Gore wants, a dictatorship that rules peoples lives from cradle to grave?   Because that’s the only way they could get the extreme measures that are needed working throughout society here and abroad.  It’ll take Complete control.   What size car, house, how much electricity you can use, how many miles you can drive and on and on.   Our beloved congress, which does not want to see Gore cry again,  have already tossed the incandescent light bulb into the trash can, to show us how serious this stuff really is.

A few more years of these regulations and we may all need to plant “liberty gardens” again, just like in the 40’s.

The march is on, but no debates allowed.

Boy Scouts policy is "ugly"

You may have read about the hoop-de-do that the City of Philadelphia is having with the Cradle of Liberty Council of Boy Scouts.  The scouts have been in a building for over 80 years in downtown Philly, a building the scouts built, a building the scouts have maintained ever since, a building the scouts spent over 1.5 million to renovate in 1994 and a building the scouts themselves deeded over to the city for the privilege of occupying in perpetuity for a rent of $1.00 per year.

What a mistake that has turned out to be.  but who could have known that some city counselors in 2007 would get all upset about the scout oath: “…To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

The morally straight part is what bothers the gay city counselors.  So the city came against the scouts and demanded that they either pay fair market rent ($200,000) for the building or change their discrimination policies, in particular against gays and atheists.  Why the feminists have not thrown their hat into the ring is not clear.  Boy Scouts could become just Scouts.  It’s ugly, which is OK for the gays and atheists.

So city solicitor Shelley Smith says that, come June 1st, the local Scouts council must renounce the national policy, start paying rent, or leave:

“We’re not looking for the fight about it. But we will do what we have to do to defend the city’s policies on this issue.”  Link.

The scouts have now sued the City.

On Friday, May 23, 2008, the Cradle of Liberty Council, Boy Scouts of America filed a complaint in Federal Court against the City of Philadelphia to protect the organization’s constitutional rights. This action comes after many months of discussion and every effort on the Council’s part to reach an amicable resolution with city officials regarding the Council’s headquarters at 22nd and Winter Streets.

Because its policies do not align with the views of officials in the city, the Cradle of Liberty Council was asked to vacate its historic headquarters or pay “fair market rent” for use of a facility the Scouts built, maintained and improved for the last 80 years at no cost to the City of Philadelphia. The First Amendment protects an organization’s right to determine its own policies. To suppress those opinions or policies, as the city seeks to do here, is unconstitutional.

It is truly unfortunate that this debate must continue and be played out through the legal system.  However, the Cradle of Liberty Council must take the necessary actions to protect its rights and ensure continued service to the 53,000-plus young men and women in Philadelphia who are its true focus.

So the June 1st deadline is fast approaching, and national attention on the showdown could intensify.  Solicitor Smith understands that it could get ugly if the scouts are evicted:

“As ugly as it may seem to some that we are taking action against an organization that people view as nobly as they view the Boy Scouts, we think that their policy is equally ugly.”   Link.

The majority of boys of central Philadelphia will lose out, while the city council members will gloat as they count the votes from the gay and atheist community, if it turns out the scouts lose.

You can support the scouts by making a donation.  Click here.

This is the same city council that passed a resolution (16-1) in 2005,  calling on the federal government to “rapidly withdraw US troops from Iraq expeditiously.”   In the resolution they stated:

“WHEREAS, Cindy Sheehan, whose son, Army Specialist Casey Sheehan was killed in Iraq in April 2004, has been waiting to speak to President Bush outside his ranch in Crawford, Texas and has been joined by other mothers whose children have been killed in Iraq is now on the Bring Our Troops Home bus tour throughout the U.S. in advance of the September 24, 2005 non-violent mobilization in Washington, D.C. to end the war;”

Philadelphia, the cradle of America’s beginnings, The home of the Liberty Bell, a very important historical city, but now, it’s home to all kinds of liberal misfits who are running the city.

What a shame.  It’s now very ugly.

Sign the petition: Drill Here, Now and Pay Less.

Published by Arnie under Energy, Environmental

The only viable solution to the energy crisis is for congress to dismantle the extremist environmental agenda that is preventing our oil companies from expanding the oil supply resources in AMERICA.   As it is right now, every time you put gasoline in your car, you’re helping the radical oil cartel of the middle east, who we have become dependent on their oil supplies, while these are the very same people who wish to destroy western values and our Judeo-Christian society.

Sign the petition “We, therefore, the undersigned citizens of the United States, petition the U.S. Congress to act immediately to lower gasoline prices by authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries.”

Newt would like to have over 100,000 signatures to forward to members of congress.  The grass roots taking action through peaceful means.
