Sexual orientation hate protection is part of national defense.

I’m just one of those people who is fed up with the “system,” a normal citizen who is too busy trying to obey the laws and not get caught sneaking out down the block while not wearing the “required and approved” seat belt to do an errand, and not feel guilty doing it.

When our congress imparts on the goal of passing a defense authorization bill, one ordinary citizen thinks the bill is all about national defense.   The bill must be about authorizing our military to go about their business of defending this country against enemies foreign and domestic, authorizing the defense department to maintain and supply the troops overseas in direct conflicts with our enemies such as they are now doing in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere, and other matters directly related to national defense.

That’s what a normal person would think, right?

And if a member of congress debates or votes against this bill, then a normal person would suppose that there is something wrong within the defense legislation itself, such as too much of this or that, or not enough of this or that, and this or that shouldn’t be in the bill at all.   That’s how a normal person would think, right?

This country has over 300 million normal people out here who think along the lines of simple and straightforward.  That’s how we conduct our business on a daily basis.  We want a yes or no, not a month long dialog of the why’s and the what’s that can’t be done because of rules and regulations that only a lawyer would understand.   We don’t have time for that nonsense.  We’ve got a life to live, bills to pay, kids to watch, shopping to do, repairs to make, errands to run, and still make time for entertainment tonight.

Boy, are we ignorant about the workings of congress.   These people we’ve elected are downright dubious, the most ethically challenged people running this country.  No wonder we can’t win any war, military or poverty, and are scarred to death that some one eyed mussel or an endangered freak of nature is about to bust their seams finding a habitat, so congress prohibits normal people from using that habitat and water.   Normal people be dammed to favor an insect.  What a turned up side down mess this country has become over the last few decades.  Aw, it started long ago when congress started passing out monetary favors to get votes.

Such is the case with the current defense authorization bill that is being considered in the House.  Rep Mike Pence is just one such dude who voiced opposition against defense.  Why?  Because our members of congress decided to attach a sexual orientation hate crimes bill (S. 909) to the defense bill (S. 1390 / H.R. 2647).  Why would they do that?  What the heck does a controversial social issue have to do with national defense?  To hide it from us, the people, because they know we’re too busy to get bogged down paying attention to what they do up there in ivory towers.   They rely on that.  They hope to hide it.  They seek to play dirty.  They seek to deceive.  They seek to be devious.  They know all that stuff is unethical and yet wink their eyes and claim “it’s good for the country” seeking absolution from each other.

The constitution describes how representatives are supposed to rule, but that document is now considered a paper to be avoided according to their whims.   They won’t even consider requiring each bill to state the constitutional authorization.  How insane is that?

We the people are dirt to them.

We the people are just plain old folks who need to be directed as to what’s good for us, by the likes of them, who really know how things could be if and when we the people follow their orders.  The dumb ignorant masses are considered just that.  When we the people are dimwits and ignorant, it makes them smart and super duper with far out all knowing intelligence enabling them to tell us how to think.

Obama talks good to special interest groups, when heck, if he were the president of all the people, then he’d stay away from special interest groups and concentrate on protecting all of us, not just this group or that group.  If ethics were important, then Obama would be told that the defense bill is not just about defense, and he’d send the thing back to congress and tell them to get their act together and send him a bill that sticks to the subject, is straightforward and honest and does what it’s supposed to do . . . like, authorize our defense agencies to defend the country, and try the sexual hate thing all by itself.
